Family AAC Training (FAACT) Session

AAC in the Home, What You Need to Know

Host: Beth Warren, ATP, Signal Center

Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2020 Time: 4:00 - 5:00 pm (Central Time)

Here's a FAACT for you...because families need to learn about AAC too!

In this new series of roundtable workshops, we hope to provide helpful information while creating a network of parents/caregivers who will be able to share their ideas, struggles, and successes with other parents. This is the inaugural session of a discussion series designed just for parents and caregivers, we will provide a general introduction to Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and offer resources for helping you become more comfortable using it in the home and community.

We will address the role of the parent in the AAC assessment process, discuss the different types of AAC, and review different means of access for children with significant physical challenges. We will discuss the importance of having a method or system of communication available at all times, as well as how to incorporate AAC into daily activities and routines in the home and community. There will be time for Q & A and sharing of ideas among attendees
